UK National applying for an Indian Tourist Visa?

Is it still possible to take an application form to the Indian Emby in London and queue in person? I tried to fill the on-line application form on the vfs Global website, and it quite frustrating, nothing like the printable one and I don't trust the post to return it between now and 22nd April when I want to go. All very confusing!
