Why are many Americans so concerned with race?

That is just how this country operates.This country was founded on racism,people tend to look at what color you are and judge you on that in stead of trying to get to know someone.I am a black american and i have experienced this all my life.When people actually sit down and talk with me they are amazed that i can hold a conversation and relate to them.This is from fear of another race.People would be amazed if they just took the time to talk to someone instead of judging them.This is dying out slowly but it will never go away completely.
