Who can help me ID a bird?.?

Somebody left a caged bird at my door step, knowing what a sucker I am for animals. I would like to care for the bird appropriately but need to know what he/she is. I guess some kind of big finch or canary. What a great singer, loves looking in the mirror probably missing a buddy, does not care to be touched but likes me talking to him/her. Color is cinnamon on the deck and white belly, has a soft, skin colored beak. At night it sleeps in a basked. I looked at pet stores and searched the internet but cannot figure it out what kind it is. Can I send you a picture via e-mail?
