Is Promiscuity Praised?

As a 20-yr old virgin who once made a pledge to wait until marriage (& is now reconsidering)...do you believe that promiscuity is encouraged among young women or discouraged? I'm about to complete my undergraduate college career & I overheard a friend saying she wished she was "more promiscuous"...what do you think? Is the Madonna/ complex still evident among social circles or does it depend upon the individual themselves? Thanks for your answers everyone!
